Vintage 1974 Fender Mustang Bass Dakota Red

Up for sale, here’s an incredible Player’s grade Original

1974 Fender Mustang Bass in a beautiful Dakota Red (body only) refinish with an incredible Mojo.
7.2 Lbs, 30” short scale. “F” neck plate with low serial  (early 1974) 388XXX.

When it comes to “Players” instruments, it means you get a true vintage guitar that has been really well played for years from diverse stages to smoking bars, and might’ve been slightly modded but still keeping the core of the sound and usually price accordingly lower and most of the cases sounds so much better, compared to another similar but collector’s grade. This clearly not for the collector, however can be incredible for someone looking to get a real deal vintage one at a very competitive price (just a little more than a newer American made or even MIM/MIJ ones.

The entire guitar still preserves its original finish over the entire neck. The body has a pretty decent refinish job that seems to be made several decades ago in a very cool Dakota Red nitro lacquer finish. Neck is fabulous, rosewood board with its also original finish, decal logo, tuners, nut and string tree.

The bass is mainly original with the exception of new white pickguard, repro thumbrest, new wiring harness (CTS 250k pots w/orange drop capacitor and Switchcraft plug), Nordstand NM4 pickups (massive upgraded compared to the originals) and a brand new fitted hard case in a beautiful light blue tweed tolex.

At some point the previous owner installed a Precision Bass pickup, therefore the pickup cavity has been slightly enlarged, however is completely unnoticeable since it,s underneath the pickguard. Otherwise, there,s no other re- routes, no mods besides this and the refin.

The control plate and knobs seems to be original as well as the bridge and strap buttons, neck plate and string ferrules.

You can tell has been definitely been played a lot by the big mark on the back of the neck by the 1st fret. You can clearly see this is not a blemish caused by a hit, moreover it seems to be made y purely resting and pressing the left hand thumb with a big nail, yes see the photos. It does not affect the playability nor the integrity of the neck at all, since there are no cracks, just naturally filled by a thumb. The neck pocket is super tight and the truss rod works correctly, Frets are original with modest play wear, still have  long life ahead. Again, It comes with an aftermarket band new Blue Tweed case with yellow interior.

This is a great opportunity to get a real vintage early ’70s Mustang Bass that plays great with tons of mojo at an affordable price tag. It ships out professionally packed and insured to continental US. International buyers please check first.
